Laser Power Output
Laser power determines the brightness and burning capabilities of your laser. Laser power is measured in mW or milli-Watts. That is, 1000 mW is equal to 1 Watt. As you increase in power, the laser becomes brighter and increases in burning abilities.
Many customers are confused about laser power and how it correlates to laser color. Because the human eyes are more sensitive to the color green, green lasers appear brighter than red lasers at the same power output. That is, a 100mW green laser is brighter than a 100mW red laser. Therefore, we can only compare the laser power of same colored lasers.
Green Lasers
5mW - 15mW green lasers
These lasers have a bright visible end dot but only a slightly visible laser beam in dark conditions. We recommend these green lasers as presentation lasers.
35mW -75mW green lasers
These lasers have extremely bright visible dots and a clear visible beam at night and in lit conditions. These lasers are perfect for use as astronomy lasers and long distance pointing. They are also suitable for use as presentation lasers if set to the low-power setting.
95mW - 150mW green lasers
These lasers are very very bright and is suitable as presentation lasers (if set to low-power), astronomy lasers, and burning lasers. These are the most powerful lasers found in the industry and offers a solid green laser beam in dark conditions with the abilities of melting through dark plastics, popping balloons and much more.
Green Portable Lasers 100mW - 400mW
These are extremely high powered lasers capable of emitting a thicker, brighter and more solid laser beam when compared to green lasers. SKYlasers green portable lasers are also focus adjustable giving it increased burning abilities beyond any other portable laser found in the market today.
Red Lasers
As mentioned above, green lasers are brighter than red lasers at the same power output. In fact, a 5mW green lasers is actually as bright as a 50mW red laser. While we recommend green lasers over red lasers due to its brightness, some customers prefer the color red. We offer both red lasers and red portable lasers.
50mW Red Laser
These lasers emit a bright red dot suitable as a presentation laser. The laser beam is slightly visible in dark conditions.
100mW Red Laser
These lasers emit a bright red dot and is suitable as a presentation laser in the low-power setting. The laser beam is visible in dark conditions and can be used as an astronomy laser. As red lasers have larger beam diameters, they are capable of burning only with the aid of a focusing lens such as a magnifying glass.
Red Portable Lasers 100mW - 400mW
While not as bright as green portable lasers, red 650nm portable lasers are perfectly visible in dark conditions making red portable lasers suitable for astronomy. They are also excellent as burning lasers.
Infrared Lasers
Infrared lasers are invisible to the human eyes and are often times used in universities and medical research facilities. While these lasers are not visible, they are still capable of burning and should be handled by professionals only. SKYlasers offers infrared portable lasers in three wavelengths including 808nm infrared portable lasers, 980nm infrared portable lasers and 1064nm infrared portable lasers.
*Laser power of a laser is measured using a device called a laser power meter. SKYlasers products are rigorously tested and metered before they are dispatched to our customers.
